Upcoming Training Opportunities

The Georgia Association of DFCS Boards, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2025 Annual DFCS Board Association's Virtual Training Seminar.

This year's seminar will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 11:30 to 1:30 pm. There is no cost to participate in this virtual training this

year. However, each participant must register on the events page of the association's website at https://www.gadfcsboards.org.

Each registered participant will receive the training link prior to the seminar date. The deadline for registration is Monday, September 29, 2025.

 The training focuses on Diversity Competency, and the title of the seminar is Differences are Good. The trainer will be Ms. Liz Gallaspy, LMSW. She is a team member with the Child Welfare Training Collaborative/Professional Excellence Program, School of Social Work, with the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University.

We encourage all DFCS Board members, DFCS staff at all levels, retirees, GPHSA members, and community partners to participate in this virtual training event.

Verbal De-Escalation – A Basic How-To Guide - October 21, 2025

This interactive course will explore the fundamentals of verbal de-escalation, with a focus on prevention, intervention, and practical techniques. Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand what verbal de-escalation is and why it matters
  • Recognize early warning signs to help prevent escalation
  • Apply effective de-escalation strategies in both in-person and virtual settings

The virtual session will run approximately 2.5 hours and will include a combination of presentations and participant activities to reinforce learning and engagement.
